Some Helpful Hints

Amen! ;-)

Here are a few helpful hints if you are looking to improve or begin a healthy nutrition plan. The number 1 most important thing is that you need to eat enough!  You need to make sure you are fueling your body with good food and enough good food to get you through the day.  Chances are if you are hungry, tired or lacking energy you are not eating enough food and/or the right kind of food.

Eat your first meal within an hour of waking  Three to four hours after you eat, your metabolism shuts down and acts as if it needs to store food.  Your body has just been at rest for 6-8 hours without any food and eating breakfast communicates with your body the fact that you are healthy, well fed and not in need of extra fat storage.

Plan ahead.  Designate a food prep day!  Planning ahead is the KEY to success!! I usually make Sunday's my food prep day.  I'll clean and cut all the fruits and veggies, cook several chicken breasts in the slow cooker and make a big pot of brown rice.  I put everything in plastic containers in the fridge so it's all ready to go.  When I was working full time and had even less time to spend making meals, I would store individual sized portions in zip lock bags so in the morning I could just grab what I needed.  Let's be honest, have you ever bought a cantaloupe or pineapple with the best intentions of eating it and been to lazy to cut it all up when it's suddenly snack time?  This has happened to me many times.  If I miss my food-prep day I find myself cheating and eating "easy," not so healthy things.  Yes, prepping your food takes time initially but trust me, those few hours in the kitchen make the rest of the week so much easier and will greatly help you stay on track with your nutrition goals.  The key to eating healthy is to make it easy for yourself!

Eat every 3 hours (usually 5 to 6 times a day)  This is the secret to speeding up your metabolism!  People who eat small frequent meals throughout the day paired with a complex carb (fruits and veggies) and a protein are less likely to over eat and do not have spikes in blood sugar levels throughout the day.  When you make a point to eat every 3 hours you are constantly fueling your body with energy.  We NEED energy to do our workouts and function properly.  So set a timer on your phone or watch if you have to and remind yourself to eat.  Even if you are not hungry, it is important to eat.  I promise you will lose weight this way.

Drink lots of water!!!!   I always have my refillable water bottle beside me.  If not, then I grab a bottle of water.  You can add some lemon, orange, cucumber or berries to flavor your water.  Hydration is key to keeping your metabolism burning and your weight loss on the straight and narrow.

Take a Multivitamin daily   By taking a multivitamin you are ensuring that your body is getting everything that it needs in the right amounts.  Sometimes even when we eat really well we miss some vital things that are bodies need.  Also, if you are a very active person you will lose vitamins and minerals through sweating during your workouts and it is vital to replenish them.  Make sure to buy a reputable brand to ensure that the capsules contain sufficient amounts of everything you need, some only contain trace amounts.  We personally recommend; ActiVit from Beachbody, you can contact me about this product if you're interested.

ActiVit® multi vitamins ensure your body gets the nutrients it needs and is formulated with safe and natural herbal ingredients.  They also include green tea and L-Carnitine to support metabolism and fat loss.
They will:
Enhance your physical and mental wellness*
Increase bone strength*

Take a Omega 3-6-9 or Fish Oil capsule daily  Omega 3-6-9 and fish oil actually aid in weight loss, encourages healthy bowel movements and increases brain function and stamina for exercise.  Also, they are a great anti-inflammatory for injuries.

Consistency is key!  If you have a day where you slip up … Don't give up! Start fresh at your next meal or the next day. You can do it!
